Old medication and sharps disposal

Unused, old or expired medications can be dropped off at the District. 

NO CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS ACCEPTED! CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS MUST BE TAKEN TO THE PERU CITY POLICE STATION AND DROPPED OFF THERE. 

The District will help you dispose of your expired or unused over the counter and non-controlled medications. You will be asked to fill out a form which will list the medications you are dropping off. 

Used needles (sharps) and lancets can be brought to the District for proper disposal. Sharps should be stored in either the medical sharps disposal containers or in rigid plastic containers, such as a laundry detergent bottle. DO NOT USE WATER BOTTLES, MILK JUGS, OR OTHER THIN PLASTIC CONTAINERS THAT ARE EASILY CRUSHED. The District has a limited number of medical sharps containers available to help you out if needed.
